Tipping Challenge

Postby 9_Ball on Fri Nov 28, 2008 5:14 pm

Some of you will know about the Scoop6 syndicate I put together last week and how close we were to scooping a bucket load of cash.

I did get a little feedback about how good my selections were while others were pretty derogatory and were not happy that they had thrown away their pocket money. To put the record straight I would like to reiterate that from 14 selections I got 3 winners at 7/2, 5/1 and 15/2 and had five others placed including a second at 14/1. In the last leg of the bet I had three selections and they were 1st, 2nd and 3rd. The trifecta paid £740. I will therefore let you decide how well I did. I'm happy with my performance!

Deano was of course one such member baying for blood so I put forth my case to him but he still could not see the woods for the trees. He owed me £20 so I suggested a tipping challenge to put the record straight and shut the gobby git up, if only for a short while.

Said tipping challenge will be to pick one horse in each of the Scoop6 races tomorrow and there will be a mythical £1 stake on each runner. The best profit after the six races takes the £20. I propose that we both post our selections on here at 1:00pm tomorrow.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And now on to another proposal. I was wondering if we could have a forum naps table.

Not sure how it is going to work yet as that will depend on how many are interested. If there are only say 20 people that fancy picking a nap every Saturday for say 6 months then we can get £10-£20 each and divvy up the prize money for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. It could in theory be done at club level as well if other clubs are interested. I used to do a similar thing that was run by the Pink a few years ago. It was £5 to enter and they had about 400 clubs registered.

I thought this idea may also generate more interest on the forum. You never know......... what do people think?

Andy - I hope you'll have no objections.

So how much did you win :?:

Count me in for a forum naps table, its a good idea. I remember the Pink naps table, me and a couple of mates entered a few times and managed to come 8th one year, could have come higher but trying to win we were trying to pick 16/1+ winners, and I am sure you will know they are hard to find :D
If at first you don't succeed, pack it in, there's no point in making a fool of yourself!

Paul, we got nothing back but I am sure you will agree it was a respectable effort! One race let us down for 6 place lines.

The rate Deano is going on, he'd be advised to get another couple of money matches arranged against Blob to claw his losses back.

All 9 ball does is buy the Racing post and tips what pricewise advises the shyster. Was going to do the same but it was £1.80 to buy so i bought the sun and some chocolates for my 2 little buggers erm i mean angels. Only good thing was that my little girl fell asleep so I scoffed her buttons.

It seems Deano is getting a little bitter about our challenge. I can confirm that I no longer buy the Racing Post and neither do I seek out and copy Tom Segal's Pricewise selection. If one of my skillfully picked winners is also tipped up by Mr Pricewise that is entirely coincidental! 8)

I do however do my research and study the form using the Racing Post website and try to come up with some winners or big priced placed horses. Deano has to learn that he can't just rely on blind luck although to be fair it has served him well on the pool table over the years!! Dean usually relies on this tactice to recoup his losses. In fact a few weeks back he came up with the idea that we should bet on the first ball potted after the break in the inter league match with Nuneaton.
Luckily for me he got this wrong as well. :D

Today I sent him a text message at 3:15 which read "3:45 Kempton, Stripe Me Blue to win, Ned Ludd and Royaleety each way". He texts back asking me to put £10 each way on Stripe Me Blue for him. Did he not understand the message?
It is after all the season of good will so I give him the opportunity to get the losses back and he blows it! What happens?
Royaleety wins at 25/1 (although you could have backed it at 69/1 on the "magic machine")!!!

If only he could learn to give me some respect. Bit of a kick in the baubles for Deano!

He couldnae spell the word, let alone dispense it. Regardless of where you get your info from 9-ball you are wiping the floor with the bum in the tipping competition, and so he reverts to type and crys like a baby. He revels in a couple of victories against the Dazzler at pool, but look at his reaction when it goes the other way. He could do with learning some humility in defeat, or dare I say it, he could learn from the gracious way Mr Lee handled his losses.
