Monday singles - 2009/10

Postby andypicknell on Thu Aug 20, 2009 9:08 pm

The draw for the 1st round of this years Monday singles was done a few days ago.

It'll take me a little while to get all the info uploaded to the website, but for those of you who don't want to wait, you can download a full copy of the draw here : Singles_2009

Most of the big names have managed to avoid each other, but there's still some tasty draws in the 1st round.

I managed to progress through to the 3rd round for the first time in years last night, beating Eddie Hayes 2-1; and Steve Bates also 2-1. I was losing 1-0 in each of my 2 matches.

Other winners for Reds X : Kevin Smith, Dave Neary, Gary Startin, Rich Johnson.
Losers : Dean Smith, Trevor Monaghan, James Stokes, Daz Twissel, Russel Blinco.

Thanks for the info Terry.

Have you deliberately missed Shaun Twissel off your list of Reds X winners & losers ? Lets face it, he's a difficult guy to miss.

wasn't sure if I'd make it on monday due to the geographical differences of venu v temp home.
Glad I did though... Fairly confident playing and some good finishing and no snookers !

Yeah, was a bit of a rush Terry. Knew I had a long drive at the end of it.
Was back on the road by 9.15
It did help having an extra table open though.

The 2nd round draw was done last night, and has thrown up some really good matches.

I'll update the website tonight, but you can also download / view the draw here : Singles_2009_r2

We must be the only team with THREE players from the same team in the same draw !
Oh well, at least it gaurantees one of us through to the next round.

Yes Terry, you are. The Craftsman 'A' and the Wheatsheaf 'A' have 2 players caught in the same position, but I couldn't believe my eyes as I saw your draw unfold. 3 out of your 5 players in one group of 4 is really bad luck, but as you say, it guarantees one of them a place in the last 18.

Hopefully somewhere like Reds will double up on the number of tables being used for this rather than the nominal 4 tables to speed things up a bit.
Some long matches to be played methinks

unlikely..... if you are drawn at a venue with 1 table you would have to just grin a bare it.
