I'm starting to agree. Genius is O'Sullivan, but Mr Taylor tonight was awesome. My only regret is that I had a sneaky fiver on 18-8 and it was 18-9. but I would have paid money to watch someone play like PT did.

Awesome arrers last night!

Earlier we had both players on a 9 dart finish .......... in the same leg! On the youtube clip we see Taylor take two big paces to his right in order to create the angle for the bull. Funny thing is, he could probably walk up to the balcony and hit it from there! Brilliant darts.

Credit to Wade as well because his play is making Taylor find another gear. Great stuff.

I was only 5 minutes earlier saying to my missus that I have seen 3 180's in a row but never 4 then they do it, James Wade is the future of Darts but until Taylor decides that enough is enough, then Wade, Barneveld and the rest will just have to wait, and when that happens people will only say that they were never as good as Taylor.

VOR,
The Darts was on Sky Sports 1 & 2, that makes it a sport. Therefore Taylor is amongst the greatest sportsman of all time.
There are many contenders for the overall title such as: Max Woosnam, Woods, Federer, Sampras, Maradona, Ali, Platini, Carl Lewis, Bradman, Marciano, Gretzky & Piggott to name a few.

You will notice that I have left out that overrated Brazilian Pele, a good player in a great side, but not fit to lace Maradona's boots. The two most shown clips of Pele, his header saved by Banks & his attempt at scoring from the half way line and missing! Tikabow Becks and Alonso.

This opinion will no doubt cause controversy, but if the truth hurts, see a Doctor.

K O B you forget to mention Big Daddy in your list of greats.

Loathe as I am to admit it but Maradona is probably the finest footballer the world has seen.

I watched the darts final at the Riverside club in Ware with fatboy Dim (Corner). Farnsworth offered 3/1 on Wade so I had £20 and FBD had £10. Then just as they were about to start Farnsworth called the bet off and offered us 5/2. We declined because we wanted the 3/1, we were then offered- and took the 3/1 after Taylor broke in the 1st leg. Awesome final, and I agree with the earlier comment about Wade bringing another gear out of taylor. At 1 point they were both averging 109. Wade had a dart at a double when he was 7-4 up but missed, and I'm afraid against Taylor you just have to take these opportunities. I thought Taylor was gone at the game after seeing his 1st 3 weeks in the premier league, then he hit his stride and looked better than ever. The cynic in me wonders if he threw the 1st 3 games and layed himself on betfair, or after losing the 1st 3 did he have a lump on himself at better odds ?
As for Wade, he is only 25 at the minute and has already won some major tournaments, I don't think Taylor won his 1st major until he was at least 30, so if Wade progresses as I believe he will, how good could Wade become ?

As for sporting legends, here are some of mine:

The late great Bobby Moore, R.I.P.
Stuart Pearce. (Reminded me of myself on the pitch, and I did the penalty celebration long before he did - Spain Euro96).
Phil Taylor.
Tiger Woods. (I'm not really a golf fan but you can't deny this guys claims of greatness).
Martin Johnson. (I wouldn't want to clean his cage out).
Lawrence Dallaglio.
Alex Higgins. (He got the masses interested in snooker).
Jimmy White. (I wish he had won a world title).
Dennis Bergkamp. (The best technique I have ever seen).

I can't stand Ronnie O'Sullivan. Yes he is talented but what a 100% cock. I wouldn't piss on the prick if he was on fire, the sooner he tops himself the better as far as I'm concerned, that way I won't have to listen to him endlessly droning on about how bad his life is. It must be really depressing having millions in the bank and your pick of women eh ?

Mike Tyson's legend is tarnished by his losses to bums like Kevin Mcbride and Danny Williams, but how awesome was he when he was 20/21/22 ? He had fighters beaten before they even got in the ring with his aura of intimidation. Did I tell you about the time just after his defeat by Williams when I said to him, "you f*ckin hopless useless piece of shit, you are nothing but a waste of space you thick t**t" Then I put the phone down on him.

The greatest sportsman of all time no-one has dominated a sport like he has. He is a 14 time world champion and has won every thing there is to win. I think the only person who has dominated sport for as long as him could be Sir Steven Redgrave and i think its only a matter of time Taylor is knighted as well

I think Deano deserves some kind of recognition in the Queen's Honours list as well.

Dame Dean Davies has a certain ring to it, don't you think?

He is a proper barrel of laughs too is Redgrave. Seriously, what an utter boring ponce.

Don Bradman has got to be my number 1 sportsman as he averaged nearly double than anyone else that has ever played the game. Lance Armstrong is up there too as not only did he win the tour 109 times he put up with Sheryl Crowe warbling in the shower. Third on my list is Blinco. The best tache since WG Grace.

Hmm, how strange nobody has asked who Max Woosnam is

This man is surely up there with whats considered as a sporting great, just google his name and read of his sporting skills, a quite extraordinary man, puts many of the currect crop of "sportsman" to shame.

I thought you meant Ian Woosnam Paul. The greatest taffy apple golfer in recent memory. Or Max Mosley the greatest (orange in mouth whip lashing studded collar) formula 1 chief.

beating up ivy tilsley is not a sport, well its not allowed these days anyway

being first on the moon does not consitute being a sportsman. they were never there anyway

the words blinco and best cannot be used in the same sentence. there is no "u" in can't

Talking of legends and me being a Coventry fan, two legends that will go down in history for me are Milan Mandaric and Ian Holloway.

More seriously,

Barry Mcguigan, I remember watching his title win over Eusabio Pedrosa live from loftus road in 1985, I was only 10 years old.

Marvin Hagler, an awesome fighter, one of the true warriors. Hagler cost me £20 when he lost to Sugar Ray Leonard in 1987, it was a lot of money for a 12 year old schoolboy. I became a fan of hagler when he beat Tony Sibson from Leicester, this would have been about 1982/83, I listened to it live on the radio. We have advanced since those days haven't we ? :D
