hi folks

my name's mark, it's been a long time since i 'retired' from the game, I came back briefly a while ago but work took over I am just starting to play regularly again and would like to venture into matchplay in another 4 months or so (once i have even more practice!!).

Like I say just coming back into it and slowly getting my game together. I get a bit of coaching at the moment which i need (thanks dean) and know i have a long way to go!!

I like all forms of pool and have started playing a fair bit of american (especially nine ball).

If anyone knows any good tournaments for nine ball that are local can they put me in the right direction.

I play mostly at Rileys at Hertford Place and occassionally at Far Gosford and Riley's in Nuneaton. Any folks needing regular practice partners mail me and will see what we can do (I dont play for cash!!).

see you all soon

Hi Terry

Thanks for that! I'll need four months to get back to a reasonable standard. Is it easy to get into the league squads (albeit it maybe not get a match game for a while).

Thanks for the input

Hi Mark, good to have you aboard.

It should be very easy to get into a squad as there's almost 100 teams registered with the league, of varying abilities. There's only a handful of league games left this season, so I'm sorry to say that you won't get a "proper" game until the new season starts in June, whatever team you join. However, I expect a number of teams will be arranging friendlies at some point between March and May though, so let me know who you join and I'll see what I can sort out.

Andy.

Thanks Andy

Do teams do trials or put up team lists (?), Id look to start in the lower leagues and work my way up (hopefully). I play mostly at rileys in cov, i dont know if its available but as we live in a modern age does anyone advertise for players on the internet?

Also do you know if there are any nine ball leagues or local interest in the game?

Thanks Mark

Mark,

I'm sure a number of teams hold trials, and some teams certainly advertise within their own pub, but I'm not aware of any who advertise on the web.

You mention that you mainly play at Rileys, so you should have a chat with one of their teams. Hertford Place has 4 Monday teams (Divs : Prem, 1, 2, and 3), and 2 Wednesday teams. Far Gosford Street has 3 Monday teams (Divs : Prem, 4, and 5), and 1 Wednesday team. Both venues have teams at home tonight, so anyone behind the bar should be able to point you in the right direction if you're out tonight. Alternatively I'll be just over the road from Hertford Place tonight, at the Butts Retreat, if you want any further info.

As for nine ball, you should ask Jamie White or Shaggy. Both play for Rileys Lounge out of Hertford Place, and have a home match tonight.

Andy.

Hi all

Yeah sorry about naming the wrong team!!

yes excitement indeed!! I look forward to the new season with my teammates and hopefully plenty of wins for all of us!!

Still looking for practice partners in the closed season.

Give us a shout or leave a message on here.

I can play most evenings with a bit of notice.

Thanks folks

(disciplined match practice you'll be glad to know Terry) with not too much alcohol!!

btw Terry when does that league thing start that you were talking about?. I'll get to reds for hopefully 6.15 Monday if there's any problems i'll head straight for riley's
