Only Fools And Horses was personally my favourite comedy on TV ever. I don't think anything will challenge it in the future either. Absolutely superb writing from Mr Sullivan but I think what made the comedy for me was the timing of the gags and their delivery from David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst. A timeless classic!

Men Behaving Badly was another great comedy centred around blokes getting drunk as a skunk and then talking sh1t for half an hour. Rumour has it Dean's ears weren't big enough to replace Martin Clunes although he did make the shortlist with bossman Shelton!

More comedy shows that I enjoyed were Auf Wiedersehen Pet, Phoenix Nights and Max and Paddy,The Royle Family, Friends, Shameless, The Office,The Young Ones,The Two Ronnies and Harry Hill's TV Burp. No only messing. I don't know how that last one got in there, he has to be one of the most annoying blokes on TV!

I really liked London's Burning as well, combining the serious side of the fire brigade with the camaraderie (you know that footballer!!) of all the lads on Blue Watch.

From a sporting point of view I used to love watching all the sport on Grandstandon a Saturday afternoon.

As for quizzes, forget University Challenge those questions are like Robbie in a strip club (too damn hard!!!), no I grew up with Blockbusters abd Bob Holness. Sadly Robbie grew up with Teletubbies!

And finally Pamwatch, I mean Baywatch. Complete tosh to be honest but I found it very educational and I had never seen such impressive buoyancy aids. Who needs water wings when you've got them to grab a hold of! :P

There's a few to be going on with .....................

9 ball, I slightly agree with Only fools & horses, classic TV but they should have ended after the "last" episode when they got the money for the watch and walked off into the sunset, the following episodes where very poor, became more like only flogging a dead horse to me.

Great shout on Shameless, absolute gem of a series, I never watched any episodes until the last few of series 5, then went and got the 1-5 series on DVD and watched them all in about 6 weeks. Looking forward to series 6!!!! Scatter!!!

One for me and I am sure you will agree is one of the finest comedy series ever....Porridge, highly watchable now, my sons love them, Ronnie Barker for me is a comedy legend.

One of my favourites at the moment is Dexter, a serial killer who works for the Miami metro police Dept. as a blood spatter expert. I love it!

Auf Weidersehen pet gave us one of the funniest characters of all time Oz, oh what a gem of a series.
If at first you don't succeed, pack it in, there's no point in making a fool of yourself!

KOB, I agree that the last few episodes of Only Fools were a let down and without a doubt the last one should have been there £6 million windfall from the missing watch. The irony was that they had this watch worth millions sitting in their garage and they had struggled all these years trying to make ends meet.

I'm sure I watched a programme where Sullivan said that this was the end that he had envisaged when they were walking off into the sunset with the words "this time next year we'll be billionaires"! But Sullivan put pen to paper again for what I can only assume was to make more dosh. Luvvly jubbly!! You've seen all the TV shows like Lost, Heroes, 24, Prison Break............... If it's a success and the investors, writers etc are coining it in they''ll keep going. Sullivan had a lot to live up to when he released the last few episodes and I think he'll be the first to admit that they didn't deliver.

Thank heavens for UK Gold though. When you've had a bad day or are feeling down, switch over to 109. David and Nicholas will cheer you up. It's on as I type.

Fawlty Towers all day long. Corner reminds me of Basil in the way he treats his customers. The episode where Basil thrashes his motor with a branch is classic. Like The Office decided to quit while immensely popular (unlike Fools and Horses). Other favourites. Al Murray's happy hour (back this Friday), Scotland losing at footy (too many episodes), Porridge and Alan Partridge aka 9 ball. A-ha. I used to like University Challenge until while studying at Warwick University. (History, dropped out after 18 months to work in a warehouse) I actually participated against Jesus college Cambridge. Still have the video. We got absolutely mullered. The only time I pressed my buzzer was to answer the question, Which lord after tossing a coin, had a classic horserace named after him? "Lord Derby Bamber you smug tit" I shrieked. Minus the last four words. "Don't worry chaps I whispered to my three fellow geeks, sport is my forte" Next question. Which peer of the realm after the outbreak of the Crimean war commited suicide after his son was imprisioned for desertion. The three geeks and Bamber stared at me being a history student and waited for a correct answer that never came. The first thing that crossed my mind was to say something that sounded believable. "Lord Bannister" I answered as Gary Bannister had just got the winner at Old Trafford the day before. Surprise surprise it was the wrong answer so I made a conscience decision to not say anything else. Copies of this are available for at least thirty quid a shot but even then I will have to think about it.

Oh well Deano, at least we now know how to keep you quiet after a few lager shandys, just pretend to be Bamber Gascoigne.

Alb, how could I have failed to mention Auf Wiedersehen Pet ? Oz was the bollocks. All the characters were good, though Neville used to wind me up like crazy, every other sentence was "what will Brenda say" I don't think Brenda will like that"). do you remember when Oz put the head on Big Baz ? Classic. And the time he got up and sang in the country and western bar. One of the all time best characters in any programme I have seen.

I also agree with your post on Only Fools & Horses. They should have left it after they sold the watch. Classic episode when Del collapsed when he heard the bidding had hit £250,000. Then when he comes round he goes back in with Rodney and Rodney collapses when he hears the bidding has hit £4million. Comedy gold. My favourite episode of them all was when they went to Margate. It had about 4 different sub plots in it that all tied together brilliantly at the end.
Another favourite episode was the funeral of Grandad, John Sullivan handled it superbly, from throwing the vicars hat on top of the coffin in the ground to Dels heart-wrenching speech to Rodney when Rodney suggested he wasn't bothered about Grandads death. He closed with the words "family, I'm finished with-em" and you could feel the emotion and sadness in David Jason. Another similar moment was when Damien was born and Del held him up to the window to show his mum up in heaven, he gave a beautiful speech again, David Jason was and is a real class act.

My favourite is only fools and horses as well. A couple of my favourite episodes were firstly when del plays boycie at cards and lets him think hes won with 4 kings and says he only had 2 pair, Failing to say that he had 2 pairs of aces a classic gag. Also when they meet up with triggers niece and they end up fighting over her. Del sets Rodders up by turning up the sun bed then Rodders gets him back by setting him up for a hand glide. nothing like brotherly love
