Emile Heskey back in England squad

Postby Realist on Sun Aug 17, 2008 10:39 am

This is why any talk of England winning the world cup should cease to exist. We do not have the depth of players to cover for injuries, in fairness we don't have the players even if every English player was fully fit. Emile Heskey is a cart-horse who wants to think himself lucky he has ever been given a sniff of a cap, let alone won nearly 50. What it does prove is it doesn't matter how much money you give the manager, be it Sven, Mclaren or Capello, if you don't have the quality you cannot win major competitions.

For what it's worth I believe the F.A. should have broken the bank and made Wenger an offer he couldn't refuse and told him he has 20 years to totally rebuild the English coaching system from kids upwards. The problem we have is we don't have enough quality coming through, and until this is addressed things are only going to get worse. There is a paucity of quality English players as it is, so what will it be like 5 years down the line and then 10 ? The Dutch manage to keep producing quality players year in year out and we have probably 40million more people in our country. The reason they manage to continually bring through good technical players is because they concentrate on coaching the youngsters from a young age. They don't play kids on full size pitches as we do here and have parents screaming to lump it forward, they play on smaller pitches which means the players have to learn to control the ball and pass it. It's not rocket science but it would appear it is to the men in blazers at the F.A. who continually throw money at the branch rather than get to the root.

The England players are the best paid players in the world so naturally people assue that the national team should be one of the best in the world too. The problem Iv'e always thought is that the players themselves would rather play for there clubs than country. How many times do you see a Man Utd or Chelsea player dropping out of a friendly but then playing again on the following Saturday. We will never win anything until they change this attitude. I'd love it if football followed crickets lead and give central contracts to the top players as lets face it the Premier league is becoming a joke now it's becoming a 2 horse race now every year.

Do agree that Heskey couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo, but if England continue to win with him in the side then I will let it go. I love the fact that Lampard came out in th week and admitted that he thought maybe, the players wasn't as committed to playing for England compared to there club sides. No shit. Have no problem with the crowd booing Cashley Cole either as I hate the man. Moans at earning 55k a wek (now on 110k a week), marries one of the most gorgeous woman on the planet and cheats on her with someone even I'd have a think about until obviously I would. Comes across as a moaning arrogant tit who doesn't play with pride or passion. Last word, Capello is so right to drop Owen as he was at his peak in 98. Has no pace anymore which used to set him apart from the rest. Owen without pace is like Lewis Hamilton racing with three wheels.

Easy mate. Get Brown out. Labour used to be the working mans party but Blair killed it for me and cyclops is worse. Blair sent people into Iraq to defend people who I couldn't care less about and they put there lives on the line for his ego. Every time one of our soldiers are murdered it leaves children to grow up without a father/mum. Credit crunch?. Bankers have lost there money and it's down to the taxpayer to bail them out,

No he's still rubbish!

If we use a pool comparison it is like Craig Pearson playing for England. He might look like he has the ability to be there but we're not stupid! :P
